Apples

Use a circle map in the shape of an apple for the kids to come up with words to describe apples.

Students draw tree and use red paint to fingerprint apples on trees.

We have an apple week at school in the fall. They all bring in an apple. We do several things with the apples:
  • Graph the apple colors
  • Sort the apples by color and other attributes
  • Teacher cuts them and counts seeds
  • Make applesauce in crockpot
Applesauce recipe:
10 apples (peeled, cored, and sliced)
3/4 c. water
cinnamon to taste
2 T brown sugar
1 tsp. lemon juice
2 T butter
Mix all in crockpot. Cook on high for 2 hrs or low for about 6 hrs. Mash with potato masher. Enjoy! Makes classroom smell wonderful!
